The Chair for Applied Computational Social Sciences is lead by Professor Claudia Wagner. Applied Computational Social Science is an emerging field that focuses on the quality, validity and reliability of new types of data, data collection methods and computational data analysis methods for the social sciences.
Besides addressing methodological challenges that arise when collecting and analyzing digital behavioral data to build models of human behavior, attitudes and characteristics, Professor Wagner explores the impact digitalization has on society and science. For example, how are algorithms impacting our decision-making processes? Under which conditions are minorities put at a disadvantage on digital platforms? And how is the production of social recognition in science and society changing due to digitalization?
